A senior manager in the IPC Strategic Investment Department and one of the Ten Stonehearts. Her Cornerstone is "Jade of Credit." A cold and elegant moneylender, she is skilled at understanding the human heart, with a personal hobby called "Bonajade Exchange." Review
Top-tier performance in Pure Fiction,
Synergises very well with existing AoE and AoE follow-up characters,
Provides a very strong single-target flat SPD boost,
Slots into existing AoE teams very easily,
Great teammate for The Herta.
Below average performance outside of Pure Fiction for a limited 5-star (if not paired with The Herta),
Highly variable damage output,
Highly reliant on her E1 to be taken into non-AoE content on her own.
Jade is a great Erudition damage dealer with some buffing capabilities and a focus on follow-up damage. Her Debt Collector buff will increase a single ally's SPD and let them deal additional Quantum DMG based on Jade's ATK. This status also drains a small bit of health from the buffed ally. She can deal large amounts of AoE damage and has a ramping self-buff that increases her CRIT DMG and ATK%. She relies very heavily on there being many enemies on the field to get stacks for her own follow-up, making her a powerful pick in those scenarios but unimpressive elsewhere.
Our first actual Quantum Erudition unit. As the IPC executive who goes around offering Faustian deals left and right, it should come as no surprise that Jade also takes her dues when buffing an ally. She's a follow-up unit with a big focus on AoE, to the point where she is also the first-ever character to have a Blast AoE on an non-Enhanced Basic ATK.
Jade's Skill will select a single ally to become a Debt Collector. This buff lasts for 3 of Jade's turns. While it's active, the Debt Collector gets a flat increase in SPD of 30 and all of their attacks deal a single additional instance of Quantum DMG based on Jade's ATK, up to 25%. The Debt Collector will also lose 2% Max HP each time they attack. Jade can use this buff on herself but it will not provide the SPD boost or HP drain. Jade also cannot recast this while it's active, meaning you will need to wait for it to drop fully before being able to reapply it.
This is actually a pretty potent boost to a single character, especially that SPD boost. As the duration only goes down on Jade's turns and not the affected ally’s, it heavily favours already fast-acting characters to make the most out of the buff before Jade needs to reapply it — and one of the best examples of this is follow-up attackers, since they’re constantly acting out of turn.
The HP drain is largely insignificant and the extra damage provided by the buff allows Jade to contribute a great deal in AoE scenarios against multiple foes. It won’t be that great against single-target or even Blast AoE scenarios, so it really is catering towards Pure Fiction style content. This AoE focus is also why Jade's Basic ATK is a Blast AoE, being the first of its kind and also letting Jade act as an SP generator for the team while still playing into her gameplan, especially since she doesn’t technically have a Skill.
Jade's Talent is a Charge-based follow-up; when Jade or the Debt Collector attack enemies, Jade gains 1 point of Charge for every enemy hit. This only counts once for each enemy per attack, meaning if say Herta Debt Collector spins 5 times against 5 enemies, Jade will still only receive 5 Charge stacks. When Jade has at least 8 points of Charge, she will consume 8 points to launch a follow-up attack against all enemies, dealing up to 120% ATK. This follow-up can't grant stacks of Charge, so you are further incentivised to make someone other than Jade the Debt Collector, as ally follow-ups will grant Charge. It's also one of the highest Energy generating follow-ups in the game, giving Jade 10 points per follow-up, allowing for rather quick Ultimates.
This Talent also has a secondary portion where each time she launches a follow-up attack, she gains stacks on a ramping self-buff called Pawned Asset, with each stack granting up to 2.4% Crit DMG, stacking up to 50 times. Each one of Jade's Talent follow-up attacks will grant her 5 stacks of Pawned Asset. This buff has no duration and will last for the remainder of the fight, providing a great deal of free offensive stats.
Her Ultimate deals up to 240% ATK to all enemies and will provide an increase to Jade's follow-up multiplier of up to 80%, making the follow-up go from 120% ATK to 200% ATK, which is very strong for a non-Ultimate AoE attack. This Enhancement affects 2 of Jade's follow-ups before disappearing. This Ultimate has a fairly hefty cost of 140 Energy, but again because of the aforementioned Energy coming from her Talent's follow-up, as long as enemies are constantly getting hit and Jade is constantly using her follow-up, this Ultimate is going to be up fairly often.
Jade's Bonus Ability Traces are also fairly simple. A2 will grant Jade 1 stack of Pawned Asset whenever an enemy target enters combat for the first time (including summons), and an additional 3 stacks of Pawned Asset whenever the Debt Collector's turn starts, again placing emphasis on speedy characters. A4 gives a 50% Action Advance to Jade at the start of combat, making it almost guaranteed that she will be the first person to act in a fight and allowing her to activate the Debt Collector buff before anyone else has a chance to act first. A6 will allow Pawned Asset to also provide an ATK boost, 0.5% ATK per stack.
It should be clear that Jade is expertly tailored to handling AoE content where enemies are plentiful and are constantly reappearing — or in other words, Pure Fiction. She's got exceptional synergy with the usual PF destroyers, The Herta, Herta, and Himeko, as their follow-ups are frequent and fully AoE, letting them generate lots of Charge for Jade resulting in even more follow-ups. She doesn’t really want to be paired with more than one other Erudition character at the same time as it’s just unnecessary overkill, but pairing Jade with either The Herta, Herta or Himeko will allow the other to be sent to the other side without worry.
She also has a synergy with Blade, but he benefits from the pairing more than Jade - as he wants to be losing HP to get more frequent follow-ups of his own, and Jade's HP syphoning Debt Collector buff is exactly what the mara-struck ordered. With the Debt Collector buff, Blade will be able to gain 2 stacks towards his follow-up with every offensive action taken, greatly increasing the frequency of said follow-up. Since this follow-up heals Blade, it increases his ease of use beyond his usual, and more importantly, because the follow-up is also fully AoE, it feeds right back into Jade’s kit perfectly.
As such, Jade has plenty of team options when it comes to handling the endgame, and is essentially a very easy way to clear the content with only some basic team planning; The Herta, Herta, Himeko, Argenti, heck even Clara can work. As long as the assigned Debt Collector can hit multiple foes simultaneously and frequently, Jade's going to be getting and providing value.
Here's where things get tricky, though. Jade is not a particularly complicated character in terms of her actual gameplay design, which is definitely a nice breath of fresh air after the mechanical maniacs we've been getting the past little while. It's definitely a good thing for players trying to just understand what she seeks to accomplish in combat, but it creates a dilemma for people who have been around for a while.
This simplicity is a blessing and a curse, as it makes it easier to understand what Jade’s after, but it comes with the caveat of being far more inflexible; what you see is what you get, and if you can’t play into what she wants to be doing, then You’re gonna have a bad time™, and the crux of this is that all of Jade’s power is locked behind what your allies are doing — how often are they attacking, what is their method of dealing damage, how fast are they, are they incapacitated or under Crowd Control right now, even what specific enemies you’re facing.
All of this culminates in a character whose damage output is so extremely inconsistent and variable that it’s not always possible to predict how she’ll perform, even in different runs of the same encounter. It can be quite a frustrating experience, and it’s ironic that characters with entire dissertations for Ability descriptions are so significantly simpler to make full use of.
Jade is a goddess in Pure Fiction, make no mistake about that, but her performance elsewhere is unimpressive at best unless you pair her with The Herta who is her best partner in crime in the post 3.0 world. With the release of The Herta, Jade found a new home that elevates her already insane performance in Pure Fiction, but also makes her viable in other endgame modes. So if you love The Herta and want to give her the best possible partner (on her release - we don't know what the future holds), Jade is exactly that.
Now, let's talk about Jade's Eidolons. For the low cost of a second copy of Jade, you can rectify her struggles outside of Pure Fiction. Jade's E1 increases the DMG% of her follow-up by 32%, and makes it so that she gains additional points of Charge if the Debt Collector character attacks fewer than 3 enemies, 1 extra if 2 enemies were hit, and 2 extra if 1 enemy was hit. Functionally this makes it so that Jade will always gain no fewer than 3 points of Charge per Debt Collector attack. Suddenly it's a lot more compelling to take her into low-target encounters.
She doesn't need this Eidolon to do well in her designed space of Pure Fiction, she'll trivialise that for no additional cost. It's just a little unfortunate that if you really adamantly want to use her elsewhere in the endgame, it's going to cost you — either your Stellar Jades or your sanity, so choose wisely.
Jade's E2 grants an additional 18% CRIT Rate when Pawned Asset reaches at least 15 stacks. E4 will give Jade a buff upon using her Ultimate where for the next 3 turns, Jade's DMG dealt will ignore 12% of enemy DEF, and E6 will allow Jade to gain a permanent 20% Quantum RES PEN while a Debt Collector is on field, and will also duplicate the Debt Collector status for herself as well.
Obviously, if you are not a meta-chaser or are someone who is just a character collector, you should have no troubles justifying going for Jade. Similarly, if you are someone who does care about the endgame and struggle inside of Pure Fiction, Jade is also a pretty easy pickup. However, if you care about the endgame as a whole and are looking for overall account value from characters, then you may need to consider your options carefully before pulling for Jade, especially if you might end up going for her rather impactful E1.
This is ultimately a choice for the individual player. Consider your options carefully before accepting the Faustian deal. Or maybe you're a Blade enjoyer, I don't know—
Honkai: Star Rail is a game where team building matters most and while our tier list takes the optimal setup into account, a lot of characters can work and do well - even those ranked lower - when you invest into them. Also for story or lower difficulties of Simulated Universe, you don't need to worry about ratings and tiers. You can safely clear that content even with F2P characters as long as you build your team correctly.
Character at 5★ are rated at their Eidolon 0 with level 80 best in slot 4★ or 5★ Light Cone (including limited Light Cones, but at S1).
