Review
Cachi is an unusual mix of Debuffer with extra Support capabilities, who also features the unique ‘Success’ and ‘Critical Success’ mechanics, which can improve his Skill 3 when the conditions are met. For Cachi the Guard, Success and Critical Success are determined by his Effect ACC, which means that doubling down on this Stat is even more important than it already is for most Debuffers.
Let’s dive straight into his Skill 3, which provides multiple effects at base, then Success and Critical Success stages:
As a baseline, his S3 applies a [DEF+] buff to all allies;
With a Success, a one-turn [Immunity] is also provided;
Upon Critical Success, all Buffs’ durations are extended by 1 turn, this effect also applies to the previous two Buffs.
While the DEF+ is serviceable, it’s the two remaining effects that really make Cachi worth using as a hybrid Support. Immunity is not a common buff, but is extremely powerful, and extended all Buffs (like Veronika’s [Soul Ward] or Massiah’s [Invincibility]) can lead to ridiculously cheesy strategies.
His S2 is another powerful tool to his kit, as Cachi gets 3 chances to reduce a single enemy’s Turn meter by 20%, up to 3 times, and one very high chance to inflict [SPD-], essentially crippling his target.
The S1 is situational to say the least, as it inflicts a very rare [CRIT RATE-] to a single enemy. This is largely useless against most PVE content, however any enemy who specializes in Crits can quickly be neutralized.
To sum it up:
In PVE, Cachi the Guard offers a strong and unusual blend of very powerful Buffs and crippling Debuffs, but most of the time he struggles to perform well in either roles if on his own.
In PVP, Cachi ideally serves as a DEF+ and Immunity opener to protect your team while you set it up, however his sluggish speed proves too detrimental when facing any higher tiered opener.
Overloaded S3 that enables cheese strategies, thanks to Immunity and buff extension.
S2 comes in handy against Bosses.
If you only need him to perform one of his roles, his skill levels are fairly cheap.
Masters neither Support nor Debuffing, forcing you to play multiple roles to get the most out of him.
Gets very expensive in terms of skill levels if you want to use all of his kit.
Too slow for PVP.
Build
For Early Game build tips when it comes to what modules and Shells to use before you start farming Red rarity, check our dedicated guide:
1
Widely used and incredibly potent all-around supportive option, granting a 25% gauge boost on use as well as [SPD+] boost with 100% uptime. It also deals decent damage when used. Possesses most of the best supportive matrixes, further adding to its flexibility and wide use cases. Loses most of its value when used in teams that already have a team member granting the [SPD+] buff with good uptime.
The go-to Shell for any debuffer that allows them to cycle faster in longer battles. If you already have a Speed buffer in your team though, the value of Jackal Guard drops quite a bit, but since Timeweave is present there, it's still worth using in longer PVE battles.
Best Module Sets:
2
An absurdly strong combo Shell that allows the wearer to skip the cooldown of the ability used on the turn this Shell is active. The wearer can use their ultimate or skill twice back to back, unlocking usually impossible personal and team combos. Also grants the wearer a 10% SPD boost after use for 2 turns. Mainly used in PvE burst/combo compositions or PVP. Can be used on both Supports and DPS situationally.
An alternative to Jackal Guard for more burst oriented teams as it allows the debuffer to use their S3 twice in row. Used in PVE one-shot teams and in PVP.
Best Module Sets:
1
Allows the wearer to cheat death once every 6 turns. Upon dying, they will instead recover 60% HP and enter a special state, becoming immune to turn meter reductions, debuffs, buffs, and also gaining 200% increased DEF until the start of their next turn. A powerful option for keeping vulnerable high-value units alive in PVP.
Best Module Sets:
2
A PVP-focused shell option offering a triple cleanse and up to 75% Effect RES for 2 turns at turn start with a 4-turn cooldown. A solid option for characters who need to ensure they aren’t taken out of the fight by stuns, freezes, or other debilitating effects on their opening turn.
Best Module Sets:
3
A strong personal sustain option for characters, granting them a 25% max HP restore and 35% gauge boost upon taking hits within a single turn greater than 25% of their max HP (on a 2-turn cooldown). Has situational use in PVE but shines the most in PVP, granting your teams extra healing and gauge boost on a semi-frequent cooldown.
Best Module Sets:
Speed, Effect ACC
For Cachi the guard, focus on getting Effect ACC main stat since his buffs need this stat to work. One HP or DEF main stat can help in case needed some tank stats. The most important sub stat to this animus is speed so try to get as much as you can.
