Best guide and build for Argenti from HSR (Honkai: Star Rail). Argenti is a 5★ character from the Physical element who follows the Path of Erudition.
A classic knight of the Knights of Beauty. Forthright and candid, this noble and admirable man wanders the cosmos alone, resolutely following the Path of Beauty. Upholding the good name of Beauty is Argenti's duty. To fulfill this responsibility, one's must be pious when one initiates battle, and one must make their opponent yield willingly when one strikes with one's spear.
Argenti has at least one video available, so if you prefer this sort of medium to learn more about a character, check it out:

Review
Two Ultimates give the player more choice – you can use the cheaper Ultimate in a pinch to finish off a wave,
Gets a lot of free CRIT Rate from his Talent,
Can be played as the main DPS on the Energy battery for The Herta.
Extremely weak damage multipliers,
Unviable outside of Pure Fiction (except for being The Herta’s partner),
Even in Pure Fiction, he struggles to deal enough damage as the main DPS nowadays,
As The Herta partner, he offers no offensive utilities, unlike some other limited Erudition options.
Argenti is one of the best characters for Pure Fiction where he can showcase his AoE prowess. He does not deal the highest damage in single-target scenarios, but he is nearly unmatched in AoE. His Ultimate can be used at 90 Energy for fast access to AoE damage, but you can also use it at huge cost of 180, skyrocketing its upfront damage output and providing 6 extra damage Bounces. This makes his Ultimate powerful in all scenarios, and each Bounce will also deal some Toughness damage as well. With extra CRIT Rate and additional Energy gains from his Talent, Argenti is an exceptional damage dealer.
With flowing locks and just the right amount of comedic cringe, Argenti certainly makes an interesting first impression. Erudition units are steadily becoming more and more appreciated, and Argenti is poised for success. He is a remarkably damage dealer with a simple, yet effective kit.
Argenti also has two playstyles available to him. The first one is the classic one where he is the main carry of the team, doing the heavy lifting - and it works super well in Pure Fiction while struggling in other modes. The second playstyle emerged with The Herta's release and it transforms Argenti into an energy battery for her - you always spam his 90 cost Ultimate to feed her charges.
Let's go over his kit next.
Argenti’s Ultimate is the first of its kind. It is usable at two different Energy amounts, 90 and 180. At 90 Energy, he will deal minor damage to all enemies, a pretty decent amount for a low-cost Ultimate. However, if you use his Ultimate at 180 Energy, he will instead deal substantially more damage to all enemies and subsequently deal 6 extra instances of single-target damage to a random enemy. This extra damage is in the form of a Bounce attack much like Asta or Sampo’s Skills, meaning each hit will deal its own instance of Toughness damage. It is vitally important to note that each of these Bounces will ignore ‘dead’ targets, meaning no damage is going to be wasted on enemies whose health is already 0 after the first big swing.
Combining these means that Argenti’s 180-cost Ultimate deals an absurd amount of total damage, even against just a single target. If you’re hitting 5 enemies, this Ultimate is nothing short of nuclear. Against AoE content, Argenti’s going to be reaching damage numbers that belong in the Simulated Universe. Even in single-target scenarios, this Ultimate will deal very impressive damage as well as 120 Toughness damage, equivalent Toughness damage to that of an Imbibitor Lunae’s Fulgurant Leap.
Understandably, you want to be utilising the max cost Ultimate as often as possible when playing Argenti as main carry, but an Energy cost of 180 is excruciatingly steep. Luckily, Argenti’s Talent helps to offset this somewhat. Every enemy that is hit by one of Argenti’s attacks will restore 3 Energy. Again, this seems somewhat underwhelming but in conjunction with the Energy gains from using Argenti’s Skill and the potential to get an extra 15 Energy per turn against 5 enemies, this talent goes a very long way to facilitating the otherwise exorbitant cost of Argenti’s full Ultimate.
Argenti’s Talent will also grant a stack of Apotheosis per enemy hit, increasing his CRIT Rate by 2.5%. Apotheosis can stack up to 10 times, granting a total of 25% CRIT Rate permanently for the rest of the encounter. Due to the AoE nature of Argenti’s damage, this is very easy to stack up to maximum within only a few turns, and having that much extra CRIT Rate for free is highly potent and very much appreciated.
Argenti’s Bonus Ability Traces are mostly nice bonuses. A2 will grant Argenti a stack of Apotheosis every time his turn starts, which is definitely good, but with the rate at which Apotheosis will stack during combat, this particular Bonus Ability goes largely unnoticed. A6 will let Argenti deal 15% more damage to targets whose health is at or below 50% of their maximum, which is largely self-explanatory.
His A4 is particularly interesting. It states ‘When enemy targets enter battle, immediately regenerates 2 Energy for self.’ What this means is that any time a new enemy appears on the field for seemingly any reason, Argenti will get 2 Energy instantly. This understandably includes the start of a new enemy wave, but more impressive is that it also includes any summoned enemies or other reinforcements, such as those called by Boss Gepard or the unending slew of IPC goons called by the IPC Team Leader.
Argenti’s Eidolons are strong but unnecessary, as he’s already going to be decimating pretty much everything the game can come up with to throw at the player. E1 is particularly good value, as it allows Apotheosis to also accumulate CRIT DMG bonuses in addition to its CRIT Rate.
This Knight of Beauty is really quite simple to use, and that’s arguably his best trait; Argenti doesn’t need to worry about things like gaining stacks on a summoned entity, or making sure he has a large amount of Skill Points to be at full power, or making sure the enemy has been properly primed with damage over time. He just… does the thing. It just works™. For some this may actually be a negative thing, since this simplicity also extends to his team setups and may become stale quickly, but over time, I’m certain everyone can learn to appreciate the value of a straightforward unit.
Units that help offset his tremendous Ultimate cost are naturally good pairs, such as Tingyun, Sunday or Huohuo. Characters that can grant Argenti more actions can also offset the Ultimate’s cost by proxy; Sunday, Robin or Sparkle can allow Argenti more opportunities to make use of his own Energy restoring Talent, thus increasing his total damage by quite a lot. Because of Argenti’s simplicity, you can really kind of just do whatever you like when it comes to team setups and you’ll probably be okay.
With the release of The Herta, Argenti gained another interesting option - he can be paired with her and act as a 'battery' to the Magical Girl. Since she needs to be paired with another Erudition to unlock her full potential and Argenti can spam his low-cost Ultimate, granting her quite a lot of stacks, it's actually a decent duo. In return, Argenti will get quite a lot of Crit DMG buffs.
Argenti is honestly pretty great. What the hell is Idrila feeding her Knights, seriously, like damn.
Honkai: Star Rail is a game where team building matters most and while our tier list takes the optimal setup into account, a lot of characters can work and do well - even those ranked lower - when you invest into them. Also for story or lower difficulties of Simulated Universe, you don't need to worry about ratings and tiers. You can safely clear that content even with F2P characters as long as you build your team correctly.
Character at 5★ are rated at their Eidolon 0 with level 80 best in slot 4★ or 5★ Light Cone (including limited Light Cones, but at S1).

Calculations
Don't use the damage output calculations as an indication on who is worth pulling or investing as those are just simulations and in day-to-day gameplay there's a lot variables. Use the numbers only to supplement your knowledge and treat them as the 'floor' of a character's damage output which you can further scale with proper team and investment.
The simulation showcases characters damage potential in the 5 cycle turn limit of Memory of Chaos against 1 target and 3 targets. The section below has all the rules listed.
