Equipment

Characters in AFK Journey don't need to equip gear anymore, as the system has been replaced by Class-based Equipment system - you simply gather gear that the Class can wear and every character within the Class will automatically wear it in the battle. This makes gear management not only much easier to handle, but also it allows you to try different characters and easily swap them before the battle when you need their specific skillset.
Equipment pieces

Each class can equip 6 different pieces of equipment: Weapon, Gloves, Accessory, Helm, Armor, and Boots. Each piece also comes with different stats - some are more offensive, some more defensive - and this means that for different classes, you want to prioritize upgrading different pieces first.
Equipment upgrading

While you can drop higher item level equipment from the AFK stages or obtain them as rewards from quests, you can also Forge and upgrade the pieces manually using Casting Shards you obtain from Recycling gear you no longer need.
The level of the equipment you can forge is tied to your Resonance level.

Upgrade priority
Class priority
With the upgrade materials and equipment section boxes that you will obtain as rewards, you want to prioritize upgrading either
Mage,
Marksman or
Rogue gear first, though the choice depends on who you are using as main carry.
- Going the Mage route should be your first choice, as
Shemira has managed to stay relevant in all gamemodes so far, inclusing boss content, and is our recommended carry. Other great Mage characters are
Tasi,
Parisa,
Cyran and
Talene, who are all used to great effect in AFK stages and pvp - In Rogue, we have
Faramor,
Eironn and
Nara as AFK stage pushing characters.
Sinbad,
Shakir and Faramor have seen use in boss content, and
Lily May,
Athalia, as well as the previously mentioned Faramor and Eironn can be used in pvp. - And as for Marksman, the main reasons to go this route would be
Odie, who can find a use in all gamemodes and
Bonnie who is widely used in AFK stages and pvp. There is also
Dionel for pvp, but he is more of a late-game hero for whales.
After choosing a class to start with, you should focus on both
Tank and
Support. Better gear will help your Tank to survive longer while the Support gear will allow them to use their Ultimate faster. Lastly you should check which secondary damage dealers you are using when picking between
Marksman,
Rogue and
Warrior as the next priority.

Below you will find the priority of upgrading your gear to higher levels for each class.
